Artist Forum Special Event |
Artist Forum at the Fort Wayne Museum of Art has become a venue for area artists to air opinions, voice concerns and discuss topics important to them. Join us Friday, February 3 for “A Night for Artists”. At the June 2005 Artist Forum, 73% of attendees rated the knowledge the Fort Wayne city officials and business community have of local art and artists as low or very low. The Fort Wayne Museum of Art has invited numerous city officials and businesspeople to the February 2006 “A Night for Artists.” This will allow all attending the evening’s events the opportunity to meet and chat one-on-one with the people who make things happen in the city of Fort Wayne. Is Fort Wayne a thriving visual and creative community? How could a Percent for Art progr! am benefit the entire area?
Featured speaker will be Patricia Cole, who was instrumental in establishing Bloomington’s Percent for Art program. Ms. Cole will discuss all aspects of this topic vital to increasing Fort Wayne’s cultural capital. A Percent for Art program would establish public sites that provide an important venue for all residents and visitors to appreciate artwork outside the traditional museum or gallery setting. Currently, there are 26 state (and over 90 municipal) public art programs around the country that commission work to enliven our shared public spaces, and provide opportunities for artists.
